CITL’s X3 Studio (Explore, Experience, and Excel) is a space for innovation, experimentation, and creation, designed to support faculty and students exploring emerging technologies.
X3 features a space dedicated to XR design and development, where faculty and students can explore existing XR applications or co-develop new ones tailored to educational goals with CITL’s own XR Designer.
Highlighted this year at the IMMERSE Symposium are three demonstrations of immersive experiences being utilized at the X3 Studio.
XR Liver Surgery, which is a mixed reality application developed in partnership with surgeons from Carle Illinois College of Medicine. This application allows surgeons and students to visualize the inner complexities of the human liver and explore case studies representing different types of liver surgeries.
Ovation, which is a third-party application designed to help users practice public speaking. Ovation allows faculty and students to work on presentations, speeches, interviews, and more. Using AI to practice with an interactive audience, visitors of the X3 Studio can create training scenarios to meet their specific needs.
Spatial Maze, which is a navigation application developed at the X3 Studio co-designed with Psychology faculty. This application aims to assist psychology students in learning neuroscience concepts by immersing them within a virtual environment to experience neurobehavioral case studies firsthand.
