Designing the IMMERSE Research Lab

Designing the IMMERSE Research Lab

Thank you attendees for a great event! If you have further input on what type of immersive infrastructure might support your research or would like to pass this on to your colleagues, feel free to continue to add thoughts to the visioning padlet - please add ideas/comments before December 31, 2025 for full consideration.

UIUC faculty and researchers are invited to join the Designing the IMMERSE Research Lab event, held 3:30-5:00 pm CT on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) to support equipping the new IMMERSE research lab in NCSA 3103.

The event is open to anyone interested in research on, and with, immersive systems (VR/AR/MR/XR, …) and will be held in-person only.

Attendees will have an opportunity to shape the design and development of the new IMMERSE research lab by:

  • Presenting a 3 minutes lightning talk on what type of immersive infrastructure would support their research needs (please indicate your interest on the registration form by Monday, Dec. 2 for full consideration);
  • Taking part in a visioning session on required infrastructure to support research in immersive systems;
  • Networking with other leaders in XR and immersive systems on the UIUC campus;
  • Meeting the new IMMERSE Assistant Directors for Research, Education and Infrastructure.

The event is free but requires registration. Refreshments will be served.
